Henry began his recording career in the early 1970's with the Harrison Johnson Los Angeles Community Choir, writing and producing such songs as “Help Us Master,” “The Road To Heaven,” and the toe-tappin' “I'm So Thankful.” Subsequently, Henry formed the ensemble known as The Henry Jackson Company. This group recorded three albums, which received very wide acclaim in the gospel music industry. Riding the success of those albums, Henry then recorded 2 solo albums working with such celebrated gospel producers as Reverend D. J. Rogers, Reverend James Cleveland and Gene Barge. Henry also recorded and performed live as a member of the famed James Cleveland Singers.
Henry's notoriety has not just come from his recordings; he has been featured on USO Television in The Black Stage, on the Christian Television Network (KTBN) with former Miss America, Cheryl Pruit, and on The Black Entertainment Network's (BET) The Bobby Jones Show.
A very prolific songwriter, Henry's songs have been recorded by such artists as Grammy nominated, Father Charles Hayes & The Cosmopolitan Church Choir of Chicago, Reverend Milton Brunson & The Thompson Community Singers, and most recently he sang and recorded his original song, “I Believe In Prayer,” with the Los Angeles Chapter of the Gospel Music Workshop of America, founded by the late, well-known, Grammy Award winning Reverend James Cleveland.
Henry has also performed with such gospel greats as Albertina Walker & The Caravans, Cassietta George, Shirley Ceasar, Andre & Sandra Crouch, Edwin & Walter Hawkins, the legendary Clara Ward Singers, and many more. In addition, Henry has graced the stage with secular artists such as Natalie Cole, Patti LaBelle, Dionne Warwick and the Diva of all Divas, Aretha Franklin .
A short time ago Henry formed a new choir known as The Voices of Community, composed of some the most accomplished vocalists from various very church choirs throughout the Los Angeles area.
With a sincere and steadfast dedication to church ministry, when he's not traveling and performing, Henry serves as Minister of Music at the new Bethel Baptist Church in Venice, California. |
